Guadalajara, near the west coast of Mexico is located in the state of Jalisco.  This  city of five million people is the second largest in Mexico.  It doesn't however have the pollution and slum problems that Mexico City does.

This is the place which made popular mariachi bands, tequila and the Mexican hat dance (jarabe tapatio).

Andrew and I took a horse and carriage ride through the city.  The ride is highly recommended.

I was pleasantly surprised by this traditionally Spanish town.  Guadalajara boasts various art galleries, cultural buildings and parks.

We visited a great steak house called the Guadalajara Grill.  Our waiters (pictured above) were extremely friendly.  However, please be advised that when ordering tequila in restaurants ensure that you request a specific kind (i.e. according to your price range) otherwise you will be served with the most expensive brand.
