This is page three for Palenque. Andrew and I choose to take an ultra-light flight over the ruin site. This was definitely one of the highlights of our trip. The roar of the engine was load, the wind in your face was so strong that it made your eyes water but the feeling was unbelievable and unforgettable. The aerial view was inspiring and generated an appreciation of how difficult it would have been to initially explore the sight

This Mayan site consists of about 200 buildings, of which only 10% are currently uncovered. The jungle surrounding the ruins is extremely dense and mysterious.

Unfortunately, it hosts some Indians who prosper from the visiting tourists making it unsafe to walk to some of the remote buildings and to visit the site after dark.
