 | | | | | | Paracutín Volcano, near Uruapan and not far from Patzcuaro is located in the state of Michoacan de Ocampo. When we arrived in this small town we were greeted by a day of the dead ceremony in which the locals were all dressed in costume and dancing around the zocalo in a Congo-type line to music and drums. It was fascinating. We decided
to join in the fun later that night but unfortunately when we returned the festivities had finished for the day. Apparently the celebrations were into their third day at that time. We stayed in a romantic log cabin at Angahann Lodge | | | | | | | Here, as in San Juan Chamula
(San Cristobal), the local's dependence upon Coke (cola not drugs) can be seen. In a town with a tiny population and with only one restuarant, we saw two Coke advertising signs in the Zocolo alone. | |
